Pompe
“Pompe” was commissioned by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center after an open call and it is a collaborative work with Giorgos Nikas (architect, NTUA).
“Pompe” is a light installation, where 117 vertical LED columns become symbols of the human presence. The purpose of the work is to create a visual event, in which visitors symbolically participate to a luminous “procession” that follows the central path ending at the Lighthouse. Inspired by the already existing architecture of Renzo Piano we created a minimalist geometric language that converses with the natural character of the vegetation of the Green Roofs. This constant field of exploration of light, geometry and pathway conveys the tension between nature and built space, the human element and architecture, movement and pause.
