Measured Landscapes – Hypha Studios

This is a collection of works presented as part of my solo show ‘Measured Landscapes’ curated by Hanya Elghamry and supported by Hypha Studios and Palace Cinema Art Collective.

Curator’s statement:

Measured Landscapes transforms rigorous research into visual form through geometry, modular structures, and interactive sculptural installations. Through this practice, Eleni Maragaki articulates the evolving relationship between human-devised systems and the natural world. Landscape is approached not as inert or picturesque, but as a contested, living site shaped by observation, memory, and the imprint of constructed order.

Using precise grids, rings, and spatial logic, the work explores the tension between the organic and the artificial: the fluidity and unpredictability of natural forms standing against the strict perfection of geometry. These systems do more than organise space; they endure as records of human presence, persisting long after bodies move on and extending their influence across time.

Within this apparent permanence, fracture and disruption emerge. Through a process of “deconstruction through organised movement,” the work examines how urban expansion interrupts the openness of landscape, and how cities carve, reshape, and reframe the natural world. Drawings function as architectural studies, while sculptures become spatial puzzles that invite touch, rearrangement, and participation, positioning the viewer as an essential part of the unfolding dialogue.

Measured Landscapes reimagines the natural not as untouched terrain, but as a field continuously renegotiated through memory, structure, and human intervention. (2026)
